The family is back for their 10th outing. The super bowl trailer of the upcoming Fast X movie was released on Friday, showcasing the new bad guy of the movie, Jason Momoa. This comes only a day after Vin Diesel announced his intentions to rope-in Robert Downey Jr for the next and possibly final movie in the franchise.
The ridiculous (in a good way) 3-minute-long trailer starts with a “family” dinner hosted by Dom talking about a looming threat. Lo and behold enters Jason Momoa doing Jason Momoa things, and giving us a menacing yet generic voiceover while a lot of cars and a giant wrecking ball (yes, you read that right) destroy the city.
From the looks of it, the movie is connected to Fast Five, which saw Diesel and Walker stealing a giant vault and dragging it through the streets of Brazil. Five movies later, the stakes have been upped with Momoa’s Dante coming to haunt Diesel and his crew. The only way they could survive is by driving really fast and furiously of course.
As per Diesel himself, Fast X will be the penultimate film in the series. Starring alongside Diesel and Rodriguez is the usual crew of Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Han (Sung Kang), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Ludacris). The movie will also see previous characters making an appearance such as Cypher (Charlize Theron), Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), Queenie (Helen Mirren), and Little Nobody (Scott Eastwood). Meanwhile, new faces here include Dante (Jason Momoa), Tess (Brie Larson), Brian Marcos (Leo Abelo Perry), and Rita Moreno as “Grandma Toretto.”
Fast X is written by Justin Lin who has also directed a few movies in the franchise. However, donning the director’s cap here is Louis Leterrier, who has previously made Now You See Me and The Incredible Hulk.
