The trailer of Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Govinda Naam Mera is finally out, much to the delight of fans. The film will start streaming on Disney+Hotstar, starting December 16, and is directed by Shashank Khaitan, who has previously directed movies like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and its sequel Badrinath Kil Dulhaniya.
The trailer traces the life of Govinda Waghmare (Kaushal), who is a dance choreographer. He is “happily” married to Gauri Waghmare(Pednekar). And then comes the siren aka Suku (Advani), who is Govinda’s girlfriend. Everything seems to be going fine until a murder ensues. A probe by the police sets the tone for the movie, as it appears in the trailer. Popular television show cop Dayanand Shetty plays the police inspector in charge.
Well, Here’s How The Audiences Have Reacted So Far:
This movie collaboration between Karan Johar and Khaitan was announced in 2020. The initial plan was to work on Mr. Lele — a spy comedy. The cast reportedly had Varun Dhawan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Janhvi Kapoor. A poster was also released with Dhawan featured on it. But, quite like several other films, this one also got shelved due to the pandemic.
The project eventually underwent a herculean shift that saw Pednekar rejoining the cast, while Kaushal and Advani replaced Dhawan and Kapoor.
During the trailer launch, Kaushal opened up about his experiences while shooting for the movie, and reminisced how enjoyable it all was, given the light-hearted storyline. Kaushal has portrayed serious roles in movies like Raazi and Masaan in the past.
Govinda Naam Mera happens to be the only release of Kaushal in 2022 and is an OTT project. The coming year promises to be a packed one for the actor, who has movies like Sam Bahadur, Dunki, and The Great Indian Family in the pipeline. On the other hand, this has been a rather promising year for Advani as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a commercial success. While Jugjugg Jeeyo didn’t do well at the box office, the pretty actress continues to be a hot favorite in B-town. Pednekar, on the other hand, started off the year with Badhaai Do, with Rajkummar Rao, which met with a lukewarm response, followed by Raksha Bandhan, with Akshay Kumar, which fared rather poorly at the BO.
