Life often takes unexpected turns, as is the case with Henry Cavill. The British actor sent shockwaves to millions of fans the world over after recently announcing that he will not be returning back as Superman via an Instagram post. The decision reportedly came after Cavill met up with director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran.
In October, rumors were rife that Cavill would be returning on-screen, after being spotted in the post-credit scene of Black Adam. The actor further expressed his interest in making a comeback in Superman, “I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman and the image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam is just a very small taste of things to come.”
However, soon after the announcement came another shocker: Cavill made it public that he’d be exiting ‘The Witcher’. In an interview, an executive of Netflix even teased that the show should do fine without him. “Henry is an extraordinary Geralt and I think Liam will continue and also be an extraordinary Geralt. There has been a legacy of amazing, iconic characters where the actors have changed and we’re hugely optimistic about this. We will continue to honor the IP, the fans, the storytelling, all the way through,” added the source. Now that he has left the show, Liam Hemsworth will be replacing him.
Either way, who saw this coming?
The News Of His Exit From Superman Has Created A Buzz Online, And Here’s What Fans Are Saying:
Sometime ago, Cavill had expressed his desire in becoming a part of Superman again. “The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now. I never gave up hope. It’s amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman. I went to Warner Bros.’ studio in the UK and got back in the suit. It was a very powerful moment for me. I wasn’t sure how I would feel…whether it would be something very emotionally connective because I put the ‘Man of Steel’ suit back on. I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit. It was important for me to be standing there and enjoying that moment. That is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again,” he said, further adding, “I told myself I’m gonna let it sit and simmer in the background. I never lost hope, that was the key for me.”
