After giving us the first look at the Star Wars celebration day, Disney has dropped the much-awaited trailer of its upcoming show ‘Andor’. The Bourne Identity-Esque thriller features Diego Luna in the lead, reprising his role of Cassian Andor, who we last saw in Star Wars: Rogue One. Disney has also pushed the premier date of the show by almost a month to September 21, 2022.
The official synopsis of the show reads, “The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can bring about. The series traces the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”
The trailer also gave us our first look at Luthen, played by Stellan Skasrgård and Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker. Joining them will be Robert Emms, Denise Gough, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Kyle Soller and more. Star Wars: Andor will be helmed by Tony Gilroy, who has previously worked on the Bourne movies and was also involved on 2016’s Rogue One.
Over the last few years, the Star Wars IP has been spun into video games, multiple feature films and live-action TV shows. Some good, some not so great. With the saturation hitting an all-time high, Andor will have to do a lot to prove itself.
Nonetheless, the internet seems pleasantly surprised at how the show seems to be turning out. Here are some of our favourite reactions
