Over the last few years, the popular tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons has seen a sudden rise in popularity. Cashing in on the trend, Paramount just dropped the first trailer of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con.
Starring Chris Pine along with Hugh Grant in the lead, the 2 minute-long trailer gives us a brief look at well…dungeons and a whole lot of dragons, as Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love plays in the background. From the looks of it, the movie appears to have a lot of Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings inspired vibe, in a good way.
In case you’re wondering what the actual plot is, here’s what the synopsis reads – “A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.” In addition to the trailer, we also got a glimpse at a poster for the film, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, goes all-in on the “dragons” part of Dungeons & Dragons.”
Honor Among Thieves is written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Both have previously worked on Spiderman: Homecoming as writers. Their previous work includes directing 2018’s Game Night, starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams.
Other cast members of Honor Among Thieves include Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis and Chloe Coleman. Releasing on March 3, 2023, here’s what the internet has been saying about the lighthearted fantasy epic.
