Ezra Miller is trending on the internet and not for very good reasons. Of late, the actor has been the topic of discussion for his conduct, whether it is putting opinionated videos or behaving absurdly in public places, Ezra Miller is everywhere. He was even arrested for creating a ruckus in a Miami bar, and later harassing a couple who was staying at the same hotel as him.
All these allegations and the arrest have led Warner Bros. and DC executives to rethink their association with the actor. Miller has been the face of The Flash, and now according to a source, the unanimity in the room is to hit pause on any future projects involving him. This would include any possible appearances in the DC Extended Universe as well.
Ever since the news was revealed on the internet, people have been dropping suggestions about who should replace Ezra Miller. Many fans took to social media to propose that Grant Gustin, the star of the long-running Flash TV series, should take over as the new DCEU superhero.
While this whole drama may continue for long before we actually know what is going to happen next, this is not the first time an actor has been sacked from a project due to misconduct. From the fall of Armie Hammer to the #MeToo allegations against Kevin Spacey, many actors have been removed from projects after such incidents.
Let’s take a look at 5 such big cases that rocked Hollywood.
Will Smith
It’s the most recent incident in the industry, and we haven’t forgotten it. At the Oscars 2022, Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Post the incident, many celebs condemned his action. Buzz is that Apple+ TV and Amazon Prime Video, who were at a bidding war for his biopic, have now backed out from the race after the Oscar slap.
Kevin Spacey
Another big name that was removed from several projects was Kevin Spacey. The actor was accused of sexual misconduct with many women coming forward with their #MeToo stories. He was sacked from his hit Netflix show House of Cards. His film Gore was also scrapped by Netflix. Spacey was also fired from All the Money in the World and was replaced by Christopher Plummer.
Johnny Depp
While fans still support Johnny Depp and are of the opinion that it was wrong for Warner Bros. to replace him in Fantastic Beasts 3, the actor had to give up the role. The decision came after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, accused him of domestic violence. The actor lost a legal battle to The Sun, the publication that tagged him as a ‘wife-beater’.
Armie Hammer
Armie Hammer was ousted from just about every film and show he was associated with. The series of actions came after sexual assault allegations and alleged messages where he called himself a cannibal surfaced online. He was fired from Billion Dollar Spy, Shotgun Wedding, and TV series The Offer. He was also dropped by his agency and publicist.
Danny Masterson
Danny Masterson was fired from The Ranch after he was accused of sexual assault. His character, Rooster, was killed off on the show, making his exit easy. However, Masterson denied the allegations, reasoning that they were dismissed years prior. He said that he was “disappointed” in Netflix’s decision.
