If you’ve been on the internet for a while, you may remember the Gamestop drama, which unfolded during the early days of Covid. In case you weren’t a member of the r/wallstreetbets community, Netflix has got you covered. In a series of its true-crime drama docu-series, the streaming giant has released the first trailer of Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga.

As one would expect, this Netflix documentary features its own set of quirky individuals, discussing everything from Elon Musk to being the modern-day Robin Hood. Here’s what the official synopsis reads like – A community of amateur traders enacts a daring plan to get rich quick and wreak havoc on the stock market. But can they beat Wall Street at its own game?  

 

In case you’re unfamiliar, the WallStreetBets subreddit went nuclear when rumors hit that a hedge fund was trying to buy GameStop, a franchise of brick-and-mortar shops, selling video games. As expected, Reddit came to the rescue, some with good intentions, some just for the fuck of it. Even Elon Musk got in on it, tweeting this.

Quickly though, users started to flood in on the meme, trying to earn a quick buck. As one would expect, it didn’t end well for most of them. To know what exactly happened, we will have to wait till September 28, when Netflix drops the series. Until then, here’s what the internet has been saying.
