BTS’ song Dynamite is still stuck in everyone’s head even after it completed more than half a year of its release. The song even got nominated for a Grammy this year, and the boy band’s performance on the song during the award function was one of the key highlights of that evening. But the song seems to be gaining more and more popularity with each passing day. The latest buzz is that BTS’ song Dynamite music video has hit one billion views on YouTube.

With this achievement, BTS has now become the fastest Korean Pop band to clock a billion views on YouTube. V, J-Hope, RM, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook and Suga’s song got a billion views in just over 7 months of its release on the video streaming platform. BTS’ song Dynamite had dropped online on August 21, 2020. The song also holds the YouTube record for the most viewed music videos in the first 24 hours of release as it clocked an impressive 101.1 million views on the first day of its release.

Earlier, Dynamite spent 26 consecutive weeks on the Canadian Hot 100, which is exactly half a year. And now that it has hit the mark, the track ties with Psy’s Gangnam Style as the longest-charting song by a South Korean musician in the history of the roster. At the moment, they may be on the same level as one another, but Dynamite stands a very good chance of improving its tenure once again next week, and if it does, it will instantly become the longest-charting song by a South Korean act in Canadian history.

Between those compositions, Psy’s Gangnam Style, which helped introduce countless millions of people in the Western world to K-pop nearly a decade ago, is still the bigger hit of the two, at least when looking at peak positions. While Dynamite was forced to settle for the runner-up rung in mid-2020, Gangnam Style did manage to rise all the way to No. 1, and it stands as the only track by a South Korean act to top the Canadian Hot 100. At the rate BTS is gaining momentum in the nation and scoring big hits on the charts, they may surely earn their first leader in Canada sometime soon.
