Nobody is a fan of nepotism around here (no matter where Karan Johar goes, this word continues to haunt him) but there are times when children of famous parents have actually made it in the world of cinema on their own mettle. Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are a prime example. And so is Dulquer Salmaan.
Salmaan is the son of superstar actor Mammootty and made his debut in 2012 with Second Show. Since then, he’s gone to star in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially viable films like Bangalore Days, O Kadhal Kanmani and Karwaan.
There was also the Anwar Rasheed directed Ustad Hotel about an aspiring chef. Now, we’re going to see Salmaan in The Zoya Factor where he plays the role of Indian skipper, Nikhil Khoda opposite Sonam Kapoor.
“If I find challenging and interesting characters with female protagonists, I will be a part of such films. I get enough opportunities where I can lead a film, so when you choose films where you aren’t, it all eventually balances out. I strongly believe in good cinema and have a decent understanding of cinema. I have always chosen films that I want to watch,” he said, according to Filmfare.
Below, we catalogue some of his best work.
