Industry officials told Billboard that Drake’s new album Scorpion has been streamed over one billion times across various streaming platforms. It’s official – Drake is the first artist to achieve this feat. Earlier, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys album had been streamed 700 million times in its first week.

Billboard also predicts that this could very well mean an instant No. 1 launch for Scorpion on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated July 14. Drake announced the news on his Instagram with the caption: “New Era. New platinum. Thank you a billion times over (a billion plus).”
