American TV editor and director Kabir Akhtar won the prestigious Emmy Award for the category of Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. He is the nephew of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi and first cousin of Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar.

By the time he was nine years old, the state of Pennsylvania had recognized him as having “outstanding intellectual and creative ability.” Akhtar went on to take an interest in theatre, working on several productions while attending both Lower Merion High School and the University of Pennsylvania.
Shabana Azmi took to Twitter to congratulate him on his big achievement.

This is the third Emmy nomination for Kabir. He was nominated in 2012 for the category of Outstanding Picture Editing For Short-Form Segments And Variety Specials for editing the opening film of the 84th Academy Awards. His second nomination was in 2013 for the category of Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series for editing an episode of Arrested Development, the critically acclaimed American sitcom.
