Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions recently decided to sack Kartik Aaryan from Dostana 2 over creative differences. This angered many of his fans, who once again slammed the film-maker for being the flagbearer of nepotism in the industry. Many were upset seeing that Aaryan is also being treated in a similar way that late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was reportedly treated by the production house.

Ayushmann Khurrana too had faced something very similar back when he was making his debut in the industry. In his book that published a few years back, Khurrana had talked about the time when he had approached the production house, and was rejected by them saying that they only work with stars.
An excerpt from the book revealed that the Article 15 actor was going to make his debut with Dharma Productions. He wrote about the incident when he met Karan Johar, who gave him a telephone number (his office number). When Khurrana reached out to them, Dharma stalled him for days and eventually ended up telling him that they ‘only work with stars and thus cannot work with him.’
Earlier, Shahid Kapoor had also walked out of a Dharma project due to creative differences. He was supposed to start work on Yoddha, which is being helmed by Shashank Khaitan. The actor was reportedly unhappy with the script and his inputs on it were being seen as arrogance by the team.
Talking about Dostana 2, and Aaryan’s exit from the film, reports suggest that the actor initially had problems with the dates and the schedule but later he started having creative issues as well. A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama, “For the longest time, Kartik gave a genuine reason of the Covid 19 pandemic to not start shoot. He wanted to ensure safety so Karan didn’t push him much. But when he shot for Dhamaka, Karan was upset. They had an indoor meeting where Karan expressed his disappointment.” Dharma Productions has decided not to work with the star at all from now onwards.
