We love Dia Mirza. We loved her in RHTDM, where she delivered a performance of a lifetime in her debut film itself. That film has got amazing repeat value, and it’s still quite popular on TV sets across the country.
Years later, Dia Mirza has shifted her focus from films to activism and is now a UN Environment’s Goodwill Ambassador for India.

“I feel honoured and inspired by this opportunity to work with UN Environment to promote sustainable development. It’s a wonderful acknowledgement of my personal commitment to the cause. In the last seven years, as a public personality, I’ve tried to use every platform of communication to help people understand the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental protection. Together, we will continue to work towards conservation of nature, tackling climate change and inspiring people to live more sustainably,” she said in an interview with Bombay Times.
“I consider myself a nature lover who is trying to spread the love in every way I can. Conservationists can at times sound fatalistic because the numbers are scary, 10 out of the 20 most polluted cities are in India, that itself is frightening but these things can be changed by better human choices,” she added.
Not just this, she’s also spoken up about #PeriodPoverty and supported the GiveHer5 campaign for girls missing school due to no access to sanitary napkins.

And recently, on the occasion of women’s day, Dia posted a photo album of herself supporting women’s related causes. “Challenge every custom, culture, stereotype, myth that creates/reinforces inequality. The world needs SISTERHOOD. Let’s work together. Support, lift, love one another ❤#PressForChange #IWD18 #WomensDay #SheInspiresMe #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao,” ,” she captioned the album.
For sure, we need more actresses who give us activism goals quite like Dia. Much like her name, she is lighting up many lives. We wish her a very Happy Women’s Day.
