Dev Patel, the actor who shot to fame with Slumdog Millionaire, is all set to make his directorial debut. According to Filmfare, the to-be director is in Mumbai and is visiting the city for a quick recce and to do some research for his first film.
The film is reportedly called Monkey Man and while it is set in today’s time, it deals with the subject of mythology. The script has been co-written by Patel, Paul Angunawela and John Collee. In the story, Patel’s character comes out of prison and enters a world that is marred by corporate greed.
The film will be produced by Basil Iwanyk, Joe Thomas, Samarth Sahni from Xeitgeist and Dev Patel.
The actor was previously seen in Hotel Mumbai which was based on the 26/11 terror attacks that rocked Mumbai. Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Namashi Chakraborty took a selfie with the actor at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. Patel will be next seen in Armando Lannucci’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ The Personal History of David Copperfield.
