According to reports by Mumbai Mirror, Deepika Padukone has been unanimously voted as the newest chairperson for Jio MAMI Film Festival. And, she has replaced the Dhobi Ghat director, Kiran Rao.
The former chairperson, Rao has made the decision, so that she could focus on her film projects. Rao congratulated Padukone. She told MM, “It has been my privilege and pleasure to work as part of the core team of MAMI, and after four years as Chairperson of the Academy, I am delighted to welcome one of India’s most loved film stars, Deepika Padukone as the new chairperson.”
As per HuffPost, Padukone as chairperson will also ensure the festival gets the finances required to stay afloat.
Under the leadership of the Chennai Express actress, the board is hoping to attract a newer and younger audience. And, Padukone seems committed to take on the responsibility of creating a community that a nation of cinema lovers deserve.
