Deepika Padukone To Reportedly Play Ranveer Singh’s Wife In 83

The film is based on India’s win in the 1983 cricket World Cup

Real-life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been all over the news since their wedding in late 2018 and their adorable social media PDA is out there for all to see. Singh’s latest film, Simmba, is a major hit and is his top-grossing film after Padmaavat. The actor will also play Kapil Dev in a biopic titled 83.

According to media reports, Padukone will star opposite Singh in the movie and essay the role of Romi, Dev’s wife. The film itself is based on India’s win in the 1983 cricket World Cup.

“Deepika’s role requires just seven days of shooting. The filmmakers believe the part where Romi Bhatia left the stadium mid-way assuming that West Indies will win the 1983 World Cup final, and the difficulties she encountered in coming back into the stadium when India was on the verge of winning, can be well emoted by Deepika,” a source told an entertainment portal.
