Actor Varun Dhawan recently starred in the Coolie No 1 remake with Sara Ali Khan which has been heavily trolled by audiences on Twitter and critics alike.
“The earlier Coolie No 1 had a cheery lunacy and a degree of innocence that allowed the ridiculous plot to play out as an extended joke. But in 2020, the narrative is dated and offensive on so many levels,” veteran film critic Anupama Chopra wrote in her review for the film.

Now, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan’s Coolie No 1 has become one of the worst-rated Bollywood movies of all time on IMDb with an appalling rating of 1.4. This places it in the league of Aditya Roy Kapur and Alia Bhatt starrer Sadak 2 which got a rating of 1.1 on the website. Coolie No 1 has been rated 1/10 by more than 15,000 users on the site.
For the film’s promotion, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan visited the sets of The Kapil Sharma Show to promote their new movie. In a promo video for the episode, Dhawan can be seen saying that actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal and Kartik Aaryan had the same thing to say about Khan.
“Inke saath kam kar raha tha toh mujhe Ayushmann, Kartik, Vicky Kaushal, sabne message kiya tha (Ayushmann, Kartik, Vicky Kaushal all warned me about working with her),” Varun Dhawan said, to which Sara Ali Khan responded: “Kya bola tha (What did they say)?”
“Ki bachke rehna (To beware of you),” Dhawan replied.
