Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes came to Dave Chappelle’s rescue as they caught the attacker before he could make his escape

In a bizarre turn of events, comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage by an armed man yesterday. The incident took place at Netflix’s ‘Netflix is a joke’ event at the Hollywood Bowl arena in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that the 23-year old man was carrying a replica handgun with a knife blade. Luckily, Chappelle did not sustain any injuries attack, and his entourage consisting of actor Jamie Fox and rapper Busta Rhymes got a hold of the attacker before he could flee. 

 

Following the incident, the attacker was shown being reeled into an ambulance with visible injuries. He is now currently held on a $30,000 bail.

Dave Chappelle appeared to be unscathed by the accident and even made a joke with Jamie Foxx onstage, saying he’d take revenge on the attacker.

 

Speaking about the incident, a Netflix spokesperson commented, “We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.” 

Following the incident, comedian Chris Rock, who has his share of onstage altercation at the 2022 Oscars, jokingly asked if the attacker was Will Smith. As expected, the internet quickly flooded Twitter with reactions.
