Chris Rock's Mother Responds To Will Smith's Oscars Slap
Chris Rock’s Mother Opens Up About The Will Smith Oscar Slap

A month after the Oscar slap incident, Chris Rock’s mother, Rose Rock, has opened up about how she feels about Will Smith’s action

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f***** mouth,’ said Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock during the live telecast of Oscars 2022. The King Richard received backlash for his actions, and has been banned from the Oscars for the next 10 years, while the sale of Rock’s next live show skyrocketed to another level. The comedian addressed the incident with subtle jokes but Chris Rock’s mother made sure she spoke up about it.

Nearly a month after the incident, Chris Rock’s mother, Rose Rock, broke her silence on the whole Oscar slap. She recently appeared on WIS-TV for an interview where she spoke about the reaction. She said, “When Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me, because when you hurt my child, you hurt me.”

She went on to add that she was “really proud” of how her son responded at the moment. She said that her son is doing well now but is still processing the incident. She even went on to address the 10-year-long ban imposed on Smith and said, “What does that mean? You don’t even go every year.”

She even condemned the King Richard actor for never reaching out Rock. She said, “I feel really bad that he never apologized. His people wrote up a piece and said, ‘I apologize to Chris Rock,’ but you see something like that is personal, you reach out.”

Soon after the Oscar slap, the demand for Rock’s show skyrocketed. The Hollywood Reporter stated that as compared to the entirety of March, StubHub, a ticket resale company, experienced a 25x jump in sales for Rock’s tour in 48 hours. Sales, two days after the incident, overtook total March sales. The average price increased from between $150-$200 to $250 (around Rs 19,000) per ticket.
