It was in 2017 that Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony, announced their passion project, The Electric State. Six years later, it is finally seeing the light of day. Rumours around the pre-production of the film started with news of Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown being cast in titular roles.
The Electric State is based on Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel of the same name. The story is set in a retro-futuristic past where an orphaned teenager tries to find her brother. Her partners on this quest are a robot and a drifter, who help her survive the bizarre new world. From the looks of it, Pratt and Bobby Brown will essay the role of siblings in the film.
An adaptation is backed by the Russo Brothers who have teamed up with IT director, Andy Muschietti and Captain America veterans, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely to develop the film. While Millie Bobby Brown signed on to lead the cast last year, Pratt is still in talks with the team.
The film has also been acquired by Netflix and should Pratt close a deal, it would mark his first collaboration with the streaming platform. Apart from this, the actor has several projects in the pipeline. He will make his MCU return in Thor: Love and Thunder in July and then, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arriving in 2023.
He also has the animated Super Mario Bros. but seeing Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown together in a film would surely be a treat. As for the actress, she is currently awaiting the release of Stranger Things Season 4, Vol. 2 which arrives on Netflix on July 1.
