Chris Hemsworth Talks About The Possibility Of Getting Alzheimer's
Chris Hemsworth Opens Up About High Risk Of Getting Alzheimer’s

Further sharing the details about the disease, Hemsworth claimed that he carries two copies of the gene APOE4

Chris Hemsworth’s fans woke up to an unfortunate piece of news today. During an interview with Vanity Fair, the actor revealed shocking details about his health. The actor revealed to the publication that he is genetically predisposed to developing Alzheimer’s. The actor added that it was not very shocking news for him.

Hemsworth said that he got to know about his health situation while undergoing routine tests, which were done during the filming of a new docu-series. Further sharing the details about the disease, he said that he carries two copies of the gene APOE4. This gene is linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Putting speculations to rest, the actor iterated that it is not a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Simple having the gene also does not mean that he will surely develop the disease. However, it is a cause for concern. He went on to say that the news did not come as a shock because his father also has Alzheimer’s.

“It’s like one in a thousand people… or one in 10,000. I can’t remember. But eight to 10 times more likely,” he told Vanity Fair. Hemsworth further added, “Since you told me that, I feel like my memory’s getting worse. It’s a placebo effect-or it’s taking place.”

“My concern was I just didn’t want to manipulate it and overdramatize it, and make it into some sort of hokey grab at empathy, or whatever, for entertainment. It’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation. Most of us, like to avoid speaking about death. Then all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, and the reality of it sinks in. Your own mortality,” Hemsworth added.

Chris Hemsworth was last seen as MCU’s God of Thunder in the fourth outing of Thor: Love and Thunder. He will now be seen in another sequel titled Extraction 2. He is also wrapping up Furiosa, which will release in 2024. The film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the film that is set in the universe of Mad Max.
