Crime and mystery thrillers have always had a lot of takers. In the past few years, several women actors have been roped in for cop roles, and it’s safe to say that they haven’t disappointed at all. The acceptance of such roles also reflects the very fact that women are indeed breaking the glass ceiling in Bollywood and otherwise. Shefali Shah

Aaditi Pohankar
Marathi actress Aaditi Pohankar has established herself in the OTT space after delivering a powerful performance in She. Pohankar plays the role of senior constable Bhumika Pardeshi, who is sent as an undercover agent. The way she owned the screen with her role definitely added to the show’s popularity.
Raveena Tandon
Tandon made a strong comeback in a lead role as a cop in the series, Aranyak. Set against the backdrop of a small town situated on the hills, Tandon juggles between her personal and professional life with absolute grit. The show sheds light on her quest to catch a murderer, who can change the course of her career.
Yami Gautam
She plays the role of an IPS officer in the movie Dasvi, starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrit Kaur. Gautam is a no-nonsense officer, who is posted as a superintendent of a prison, only to make the life of a politician difficult until he mends his ways.
Richa Chadha
She plays the role of a DCP in the drama series, The Great Indian Murder. The show investigates the murder of a high-profile person, which only gets twisted with every passing day. The case is shown from different angles till Chadha solves it.
Tabu
In Drishyam, Tabu plays the role of a cop who is in search of her son. She played her part convincingly and set an example of how fearless and daring women cops can be. On the other hand, the role also sheds light on her character’s maternal instinct.
Rani Mukerji
It was a challenging role for Mukerji to play in Mardaani. The movie traces the journey of a crime branch officer behind a child trafficking racket. Fans and critics have called this one of the best performances of her career yet.
