If cinema is magic, then actors are magicians. Bringing stories and the vision of the filmmakers to life, there’s a lot riding on an actor to this in a convincing way. This could mean long hours on set to learning a new skill, to training in a new language – sometimes we see the hardwork and sometimes it’s all behind the scenes.
One aspect we get to see is how an actor transforms themselves physically for a role. There are a few actors who have trained hard to become the character they are supposed to play and we can only assume the work that went into it.

Arjun Mathur has undergone a massive transformation for his character in Made in Heaven S2. The actor followed an extensive training schedule and a strict diet plan to beef up for his role as Karan Mehra.
Taapsee Pannu – Rashmi Rocket
Taapsee Pannu takes on a never-seen-before avatar in Rashmi Rocket. As someone who isn’t a fan of the gym, the actor stepped out of her comfort zone and spents months dedicated to weight training; and it shows. She also shared a video on social media to discuss her fitness journey. Take a look:
Ranbir Kapoor – Sanju
Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation for Sanju was epic. The film was a test of the brilliant actor’s dedication as he to had adapt his body based years in Sanjay Dutt’s life. Part of his process inclided eight meals a day, protein shakes and intense workouts.
Vicky Kaushal – URI: The Surgical Strike
URI: The Surgical Strike was one of the biggest hits of 2019. Vicky Kaushal had to look a certain way to play an Army Officer. He gained 15kg and achieved this by following a strict diet regime and with immense training.
Farhan Akhtar – Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
If you’re playing an athlete, you have to look like one. Farhan Akhtar trained hard to play the legendary Milkha Singh in the biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The star went through rigorous training to play the athlete convincingly in the film.
