Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter has been nominated for Grammys for her role in the song Brown Skin Girl, making her the youngest nominee in the history.
Previously, Beyonce scored a nomination in the category of “The Best Music Video” for Brown Skin Girl. The original credits on the Recording Academy’s website read, “Beyonce Knowles-Carter & Jenn Nkiru, video directors; Lauren Baker, Astrid Edwards, Nathan Scherrer & Erinn Williams, video producers.” The song celebrates the natural beauty of the coloured girls. Now, in a fresh set of developments, Grammys updated its website to include Beyonce’s 8-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter as a featured artist on the track.
According to Billboard, Blue wasn’t initially named on the nomination in November, but rather added later. Grammy rules require that “in order for a featured artist to be recognized as a nominee, 1) the artist must be credited and recognised as a featured artist; and 2) there must be significant performance and artistic contribution by the featured artist beyond what might be considered merely an accompaniment.”

Earlier in June, Blue Ivy won her first-ever BET Award for her work on the song. She also narrated the audio version of the children’s book Hair Love, an animated short about a Black father learning to style his daughter’s hair, which won an Academy Award this year. Blue Ivy made her musical debut crying in the background of one of her dad songs, Glory and also went on to feature on her parents’ numerous music videos.
Meanwhile, Beyonce will be competing against herself in the Record of the Year category at Grammys 2021 as she is nominated in the category for Black Parade as well as Savage. The 63rd Grammy Awards will be held on January 31, 2021, and will be showcased live in India on Vh1 India.
