It has finally arrived! Fans went into a tizzy as soon as a teaser for Margot Robbie’s live-action film titled, Barbie was out on the internet, earlier today.
This year has been filled with surprises on the movies front, and just as Christmas is around the corner, it now appears that Robbie and Gosling’s fans have gotten their pre-Christmas treat. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is slated for release on July 21, 2023. While there has been a lot of buzz around the movie, not much has been disclosed about the plot as yet.
Rumours are rife that the movie’s team was looking at a grand release of the teaser. However, the plan went haywire after it was been leaked online. Believe it or not, the grapevine has it that the teaser was played when fans went to watch James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of Water. The teaser features Robbie, Gosling, and Simu Liu.
Robbie sports a black and white striped monokini, which was reportedly worn by the very first Barbie. The scene soon shifts to Ken, played by Gosling. By the looks of it, Ken’s clearly a social animal in the movie!

Barbie is the first live-action movie of the franchise. Previously, only computer-animated ones were released along with television films. The announcement of this film was made in 2009, but developments began only in 2014. Sony had initially procured the rights, which were later given to Warner Bros Pictures. A number of cast and director changes ensued over the course of time, and the current cast was eventually decided upon.
When the first looks of the Barbie movie were out, naturally, excitement levels shot up. However, at one point in time, Robbie apparently felt overwhelmed by it all. “We look like we’re laughing, having fun, but (we’re) dying on the inside. I was like, ‘This is the most humiliating moment of my life’. I mean, I knew that we had some exteriors to shoot in L.A. I knew, OK, once you’re doing exteriors, you’re gonna got (shot by paparazzi). There’s probably going to be a little crowd of people who are going to take notice, because, you know, the (fluorescent). We stand out a little in those outfits,” she said, in a recent interview.
Robbie further added, “So I knew there would be a little bit of attention and probably some photos would get out there, but not as it did. It was, like, mad. It was, like, hundreds of people watching.”
