Inside the star-studded Balenciaga Couture runway

If a star-studded event needed a definition, then Balenciaga’s Fall Couture show would be it. From A-listers like Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, and Dua Lipa, to supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Bella Hadid, all were in attendance at the brand’s FW22 showcase. Even celebs like North West, Keith Urban, Michelle Yeoh and Krish Jenner were seen sitting in the front row.

Let’s decode the outfits worn by these celebs

Kardashian, who is also the brand ambassador of Balenciaga, wore a skin-tight combination of pants and boots paired with a draped wrap skirt and a corset top. But what stole the look was Kardashian’s platinum hairdo.

Lipa chose to go bold with a single-shoulder yellow minidress, while Kidman opted for a similar outfit but in silver colour. Campbell’s voluminous hoop skirt became the fodder of many memes as it would have gotten stuck in the doorway had it been an inch wider. Hadid, on the other hand, kept it minimal with a green dress, over-the-elbow gloves and black tights which were worn by all of them.

But before these celebs walked the runway, a group of anonymised models walked in with shiny black face shields, making them look like mannequins rather than humans. The dresses which they were wearing could be explained as outfits which is an amalgamation of fetish meeting business and casual wear. What caught everyone’s attention was their oversized footwear which clearly made the process of walking difficult.

Balenciaga’s powerful return to the haute couture

After a 53-year hiatus, the brand decided to come back to the haute couture calendar in 2021. With every event that Balenciaga does these days, they take it up a notch each time. This year’s Balenciaga’s Fall Couture was an intimate affair but it managed to create hype. This was creative director Demna Gvasalia’s second collaboration with the brand and just like the first one at New York City at the Stock Exchange, this show was also a super hit.
