The much-awaited trailer of Bratt Pitt and Margot Robbie’s Babylon was released today. This epic period comedy film has been written and directed by Academy award winner Damien Chazelle. Along with the two megastars — Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie — the cast includes actors like Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li. The film focuses on the lives of Hollywood actors and the fickleness of stardom, where on one day the paparazzi cannot seem to get enough of them, whereas, in a low phase, the very celebs in question don’t seem to be able to get through with day-to-day survival.
The movie is slated for a theatrical release on December 23, 2022.
Here Is What Fans Are Saying:
The movie was announced back in 2019 by the director Damien Chazelle, who revealed his plans to work on a project that is set in the golden age of Hollywood. Babylon is against a time period between 1910 to 1960, when narration and visuals became an essential component of American cinema. Eventually, this style was adapted across the globe.
Initially, the role of Robbie was played by Emma Stone. But due to reported scheduling conflicts, she had to bid adieu to this film. Later in 2020, Pitt confirmed being a part of this film by saying that he is getting to see the transition from silent cinema to cinema with sound. Most of the shootings took place in California, where the makers reportedly received a state tax credit as well.
In an interview, Pitt shared how it was working with director Chazelle. “I shot the first four days, [witnessed] some amazing choreography, and it was raucous, and it was bawdy, and it had this great energy to it, and half the background is naked, and they’re snorting cocaine off someone’s a**. And then I had three days off, and I came back, and it was still going. I was like, oh my god. I still marvel at how much this man got in one shot… I’ve been really fortunate to work with some of the great filmmakers, and I already consider Damien Chazelle one of the greats,” he added.
On the other hand, talking about the film, Robbie averred, “you have a great director looking out for you, so I couldn’t have wished for anything better, it was the greatest experience of my life. It’s the greatest character I’ve ever played and probably the greatest character I ever will play.”
