After a stunning performance in Anek, Ayushmann Khurrana fans were eagerly looking forward to what the actor had to offer next. When Doctor G was announced a couple of months ago, the news unsurprisingly evoked major bouts of intrigue and excitement. And well, the secret is finally out, and the audience will now get to see Khurrana in the role of a male gynecologist in the upcoming film.
It was already established, through the previously shared posters, that the actor would be essaying
the role of a doctor, but it came as a surprise to know that he will be seen as a gynac struggling to fit in the female world. The trailer introduces him as Dr. Uday Gupta. The taboo topic, which the film addresses, is the very fact that most women are still not too comfortable with a male gynecologist diagnosing them, and the movie’s narrative revolves around him navigating this space.
The trailer had to go viral considering it has Khurrana featuring in it, but not many were convinced by it. Many felt that the actor was sticking to just one genre in terms of his chosen movies, and the trailer was also not engaging enough for them. Several others felt excited to have him back on the screen. “I want to root for the success of actors like #AyushmannKhurrana. Especially the way he created a niche for himself in a star-obsessed industry but #DoctorG just seems like an offshoot of the several socially relevant comedies I’ve seen from his filmography,” said a user.
