News about Armie Hammer and the rape allegations made headlines in the last few months when an anonymous woman accused him of rape and cannibalism. The woman made some serious revelations about her relationship with the Call Me By Your Name actor, resulting in him being dropped out of several projects. Latest developments suggest that Hammer has now also been dropped from Amma Asante’s thriller The Billion Dollar Spy.

Hammer was supposed to star alongside Mads Mikkelsen in the Cold War drama, but according to Variety, he will no longer be a part of the movie. In The Billion Dollar Spy, the actor was roped in to play a CIA operative in the 1970s and 80s Moscow who receives military secrets from a Soviet engineer. The Hollywood actor is accused of rape, an allegation he denies.

Hammer was also a part of Jennifer Lopez starrer Shotgun Wedding, but was pulled out from this project as well in January. The decision came after some private messages detailing disturbing sexual fantasies that he allegedly sent, surfaced online. He has been replaced by Josh Duhamel now. He was also scheduled to star in The Offer, a series about the making of The Godfather film, but was pulled out from this project as well.

The controversy started when a 24-year-old woman, Effie, accused the actor during a press conference earlier this month, saying that he allegedly raped her in 2017. Reacting to the whole controversy, Hammer’s lawyer has described the allegation as “outrageous”, and added that the actor’s relations with the woman were “completely consensual, discussed, and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory”.

Now, with his exit from The Billion Dollar Spy, the only films that Hammer has coming up are the ones he has already completed before the allegations began to surface. This includes Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins, and Sir Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.
