The Voice season 20 kick-started on March 1, and we saw Nick Jonas, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton return as coaches for another season. While the singers are deep into the training competition, we have some sad news for all Jonas fans. The singer won’t be joining the team for the next season. Ariana Grande will be filling in Jonas’ spot for The Voice season 21.

The Rain Over Me singer made the announcement on Twitter by sharing a picture of her from the sets of the reality show. “Surprise !!! I am beyond thrilled, honoured, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice ! @nickjonas we will miss you,” she shared via Twitter. The Spaceman singer was quick enough to respond to Grande’s tweet, and welcomed her to The Voice family.

Grande, in a separate statement, said, “I’m so honoured and excited to join The Voice family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level.”
Jonas’ exit has disheartened his fans, who are upset to hear that he’s walking away from the show yet again. Last year, Jonas had given up his red swivel chair to Gwen Stefani, after exiting ahead of season 19. While he cited the reasons for his exit the last time, he has not revealed the reason behind his exit from the show this time around.

Page Six, however, reported that there might be a good chance that Jonas won’t be going away for good, and will soon make a comeback on the show. “Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon,” the source revealed. While there is still some time for the singer to say goodbye to The Voice, his fans are rooting for him to exit the reality show on a big note and with his very first coaching victory.
