Can you really be friends with your ex-spouse? Well, Anurag Kashyap responded to this ponder-worthy question via a recent post. The Dobaaraa filmmaker posted a picture with his ex-wives, film editor Aarti Bajaj, and actress Kalki Koechlin, referring to them as his “two pillars.” The post won the Internet, but interestingly enough, this is not the first example of lover-turned-friends in Bollywood.
Case in point: Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan continue to remain the best of buds post-divorce, while Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora have decided to co-parent their son on healthy, amicable terms. Here’s taking a look at five such Bollywood couples who’ve inspired us to let the bitterness go after a relationship fails:
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao
After 15 years of marriage, Aamir Khan And Kiran Rao announced their decision to file for separation in July 2021. A joint statement was issued, divulging how Khan and Rao have mutually decided to be co-parents and best friends, even after parting ways. Post-divorce, the ex-couple continue to be an integral part of each other’s lives and are said to be present together on important family and professional occasions.
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora
The duo was married for 18 years, after dating for a long time. While the marriage unfortunately ended, the friendship remains. They have time and again spoken highly of each other, and are often spotted spending time together. The two have also been co-parenting efficiently, much to the awe of industry insiders and fans alike.
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan
One of the coolest friendships we have seen is that of Roshan and Khan . After being married for 14 years, the couple parted ways, only to remain very good friends. Despite several rumors about their personal lives, the two have always been each other’s support system. The ex-couple are often spotted spending quality time together with their kids, having lunches and dinners together, and share a cordial relationship with each other’s current spouses.
Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Babani
Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Babani got married in 2000 after dating for two years. The couple called it quits after being together for 16 years. Far from being bitter about their marriage coming to an end, Akhtar and Babani are good friends today, who share the custody of their two children, Akira and Shakya. Fans are often treated to happy pictures of the exes together at their daughters’ birthday parties.
Ranvir Shorey & Konkona Sen Sharma
Shorey and Sen Sharma have been good friends since their divorce in 2015. Not only do they co-parent their son, Haroon, successfully, but are always seen rooting for each other. Interestingly, Sen Sharma even roped her ex-husband in her first directorial film, A Death In The Gunj.
