5 Underrated Angelina Jolie Movies You Need To Watch

Maleficent actress turns 43 on Monday

Angelina Jolie, the modern day global icon, known for her breathtaking beauty, brilliant cinema and humanitarian work turns 43 today. An Academy award winner, she’s famous for many of her popular roles like ‘Lara Croft‘ and ‘Mr & Mrs Smith.’ But there are some of her great movies that might have slipped under the radar. Here’s a tribute: 

 

Hackers: The 1995, American crime film follows a group of high school hackers and their involvement in a corporate extortion conspiracy. Hackers is one of Jolie’s earliest films as she beat several A-list actresses for the part opposite Jonny Lee Miller, who she later married.

 

 

Gia: Gia was the first film to earn Jolie serious critical acclaim, and a Golden Globe award. But it had an average box office collection. The film is a biopic about the supermodel Gia Marie Carangi, who after her quick rise to fame began using drugs and eventually contracted AIDS from a dirty needle, dying at the age of 26 in 1986.

 

 

Girl, Interrupted: The film gave Jolie an academy Award for her portrayal of the charismatic sociopath Lisa, who is stuck in a mental institution. Angelina played a supportive role in the film, which garnered here huge critical acclaim.

 

 

Life or Something like it: In this 2002 romantic comedy, Jolie plays a reporter who’s sent to interview a psychic, who tells her that her life is meaningless and that she’s going to die.

 

 

Changeling: One of Jolie’s most successful roles was in the American mystery crime drama. 2008′s Changeling is based on the true story of the 1928 Wineville Chicken Coop kidnapping and murder case. Jolie plays a woman whose child was kidnapped by a man later discovered to be a serial killer. Even though the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures named Changeling one of the 10 best films of 2008 but it performed moderately at the box office.
