Andrew Garfield To Take A Break From Acting
Here’s Why You May Not Get To See Andrew Garfield As Much As You’d Like To

Andrew Garfield has had a busy year with releases like ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye,’ “Tick, Tick … Boom!, and ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’

Andrew Garfield is taking a sabbatical, and no this is not a joke. After starring in a number of movies in the last few years, the actor recently said that he is ready to take a break.

“I’m going to rest for a little bit. I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while,” the actor told Variety. He added, “I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while. It feels very important right now, especially after a lot of output, a lot of being out in the world, and giving a lot of energy to things that I’m very passionate about. Like it’s so tempting to live in that way of just always onto the next thing. But actually, and I know it’s a privilege that I get to even consider that, to actually take time.”

“I’m very inspired by Simone Biles and I’m very inspired by her saying, nope, I’m not going to do that vault. I’m going to endanger myself if I vault today. I find that really an incredible example. And Kendrick Lamar, who hasn’t put out an album in a while. I really admire anyone who can forego the temptation of having to be always on the up and up. Someone who can really be on their own rhythm, bang to the beat of their own drum,” said Garfield.

He talked about what he wants to do during the break and said, “I kind of want to lay down and just think and not think and watch other people’s work and just be really, really, really kind of… and listen to music and be with friends and eat burgers, you know, just kind of be a person.”

The actor’s last project before he takes a sabbatical, FX’s limited-series Under the Banner of Heaven, sees him play a Mormon detective. The character is seen investigating the brutal murder of a mother (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her baby daughter by fundamentalist followers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The limited series is an adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s 2003 true-crime book of the same name. Under the Banner of Heaven releases today, on April 28th.
