The closing arguments in the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case were done last week. Post this, Depp was seen treating fans to a concert, and Heard has been keeping things low key. Rumours are now suggesting that Heard could face jail time.
During the hearing, it was pointed out that Heard had edited the photographs that she submitted as evidence of abuse. She is also said to have tampered with other evidence, an indication that she could have been lying when under oath.
Defamation lawyer and the jury in the feuding couple’s case, Aaron Minc told an online portal that “more and more objective evidence that she is lying about things under oath” could lead to the actress ending up in jail.
Minc added that he did not think that “a few days ago” Heard, by any chance, could face prosecution for anything she had said but certain things changed his mind. He said, “I think that as this case goes on, we start seeing more and more objective evidence that she is lying about things under oath.
“That’s when it starts crossing the line into the possibility that she is fabricating evidence, fabricating photos, fabricating bruises, altering evidence and then submitting it,” he continued. He warned that falsifying evidence is not only “really serious,” but also “really offensive” to the jurisdiction system.
He concluded, “I would hope that prosecutors would take a close look at it because if there is very clear evidence that she did that, that should certainly be considered. If it was proven that that was the case, and there are certainly some questions being raised in the trial currently, that could potentially lead to a criminal prosecution and jail time.”
Also, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had issued a joint statement after their divorce where they said that the actress would be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. However, it was revealed that she is yet to pay the pledged $3.5 million donations from her divorce settlement.
