While Shah Rukh Khan is Bollywood’s ultimate success story, Alia Bhatt is that one star kid who has made it in the film industry through sheer force of her talent. The two actors had come together for Gauri Shinde’s film, Dear Zindagi which spoke about mental health issues and was well received. Shah Rukh Khan played the role of a therapist while Alia Bhatt played the role of a young woman trying to understand her mental health issues.

Now, the two stars are coming together for another film which is being touted as a quirky mother-daughter story called Darlings. Shah Rukh Khan will not be starring opposite Alia Bhatt but he has joined the team of Darlings as a producer.

Bollywood Life quotes a source as saying that Red Chillies has been developing the film for a while now and had narrated the script to Bhatt who “loved it and instantly came on board the film”.

Darlings will be the directorial debut of Jasmeet K Reen who has worked on films like Force 2, Fanney Khan and Pati Patni Aur Woh. Besides Alia Bhatt, Darlings will feature actors like Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.

“It’s set in Mumbai against the backdrop of a middle-class family and traces the lives of two women, as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances,” the source told Bollywood Life. The entertainment portal also reveals that the film will go on floors in the first quarter of 2021. “In fact, the movie is gearing up for a release this year itself. The pre-production work is going on full swing, and the team is all ready to take it on floors very soon in Mumbai,” the source said.
