Alia Bhatt Opens Up About Why She Is Taking Therapy
Alia Bhatt Goes For Therapy, Reveals The Reason Behind It

Alia Bhatt revealed that therapy helped her address issues and that she takes sessions once a week

Alia Bhatt is currently basking in the glory of Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her first film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali has proved to be a masterpiece, and the actress only proved her versatility once again. However, while her professional life is soaring, and things are going well, Alia Bhatt isn’t neglecting her mental health either. She recently opened up about taking therapy and also explained why she does it.

The Raazi actress said that she has been ‘very hard’ on herself over the years, and that has made her turn to therapy. She revealed that she’s struggled with body image issues and therapy has helped her cope with this. Having been strict with ‘food, dieting, weight, and the way (she) is looking’, these restrictions made things a bit tough for Alia Bhatt.

“That’s a struggle that’s been constant,” she told during an interview with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story. “Everyone around me would see it, but I would not see it.” She quipped that since she is a public figure, she is expected to ‘tick certain boxes’, but she has realised that she was being ‘too hard’ on herself. This is something Bhatt wants the ‘young girls out there’ to know as well. She feels that they might be under pressure to present the best versions of themselves because of ‘Instagram culture’, but that should not be the case.

“When I started therapy, I did it just as a hygiene thing. To take care of my body, I go to the gym; I need to take care of my mind as well. It’s something I started amidst the lockdown, when everybody was going through a hard time, and I thought that maybe this would be a good time to start. I started as a generic thing, but what I discovered through those sessions is that I have so many issues when it comes to… I always knew I was anal when it comes to my weight, because I’m facing the camera,” she revealed adding that she takes therapy sessions once a week.

“How I dealt with it? I’ll be honest, sometimes I would just tell myself, ‘It’s all fine, you have to do this because you have to look good’. I would convince myself that this is something I have to do, but I realised over time that I don’t have to do this,” she concluded.

Coming to the next projects lined up, Alia Bhatt will be seen sharing screen space with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in Heart Of Stone. We will also get to see her in SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Darlings, Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif. She is also a part of Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh, and Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan is another release that has fans excited.
