Six months after tying the knot, actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have just welcomed a new member to their family — a baby girl.

The happy announcement came from a PTI insider, who confirmed details about the early-morning delivery. “It’s a girl,” they stated. “She arrived at 7.30 am for the delivery. She has been coming to the hospital regularly between 11 am-12 pm for the past few days.”

2022 has been a landmark year for the celebrity couple, as they hit a series of professional and personal milestones over the last several months. After marrying in a well-publicized ceremony this April and announcing Alia’s pregnancy in June, they shared screen space for the first time in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, which was released worldwide this September.

It is learnt the Kapoor family is expected to issue a formal statement soon, announcing the birth of the baby, and perhaps a name as well. In the meantime, thousands of supporters shared their excitement and congratulations online:

The delivery puts a halt to the many commercial projects the pair are working on, with Ranbir announcing a 48-hour hiatus from all his work commitments, which may include Luv Ranjan’s upcoming, untitled film and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Alia, on the other hand, will be next seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and her Hollywood debut Heart Of Stone, co-starring Gal Gadot.
