Trust Akshay Kumar to do anything on the big screen and manage to win hearts every single time. Be it jumping from one building to another or making you laugh with his incredible comic timing, the actor is a master of his craft, and there are no two ways about it. Adding to the list of iconic roles essayed by the actor, Kumar will next be seen essaying the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar has joined hands with Mahesh Manjrekar for his upcoming directorial titled, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. 

Marking his debut in Marathi films, the actor recently unveiled the first look of his character, much to the delight of his fans. The actor looked uncanny in the new look. Talking about taking up this role, the actor stated, “I am playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I got the role because of Raj Thackeray. It is a huge task, and I would like to say that I will give my best.” Kumar seemed excited as he spoke to a bevy of media persons about his forthcoming undertaking.

He went on to add, “To play the role of such a legendary personality is a huge responsibility. I am so happy about this. It is a dream-come-true kind of role.” The event was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Raj Thackeray. Salman Khan also arrived to extend his support to Manjrekar.

Manjrekar further enthused why Kumar was the ideal choice to play the role of the Maratha warrior king, and said, “It was my wish to work with Akshay. And for this role, I couldn’t see any other actor but him. We wanted a certain personality and look and Akshay had the apt image to play a Hindu Raja.”

Fans were elated to learn that Kumar’s next film is about one of the greatest warriors in India’s history. A Twitter user wrote, “Akshay Kumar is the most deserving actor to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Veer Daudale Saat.” Several others also shared their excitement to see him in this avatar.

Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat is scheduled to be released in cinemas on Diwali 2023 in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film will reportedly clash with Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 at the box office.
