Aishwarya Rai’s First Look From Mani Ratnam’s Magnum Opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ Is Breathtaking

The promotions of the movie Ponniyin Selvan have kickstarted with the makers releasing posters every day

The makers of the most awaited film of the year Ponniyin Selvan directed by Mani Ratnam have shared the first poster of the movie featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. And they have rightly written that vengeance has a beautiful face, as the actress looks absolutely stunning in it. Her golden-coloured saree and flowing hair make her look like someone who was tailor-made for period dramas. They have really got the styling right here, because right from the nose pins to the bajubands, everything just looks perfect. It seems like Rai’s comeback is going to be a powerful one.

The promotion of this dream project has already started as the makers are launching new posters every day. They have already revealed the look of Vikram and Karthi and the grandeur is visible in these pictures.

Since Rai will be playing the role of the antagonist in the movie, it looks like her looks will be used as her weapon. This would mark her comeback to the silver screen after 4 years as the movie is all set to release on September 30, 2022.

This movie is based on the eponymous novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The story is about the life of the prince of Arulmozhi Varman who is later seen as Raja Chozhan. Rai would be playing two roles in the film — one of queen Nandini who is the princess of Pazhuvoor with a mission to seek vengeance and one of Mandakini Devi.

This is one of the most ambitious projects of Mani Ratnam’s career. Right from its scale, scope and budget, everything is high. He is attempting a period drama based on the Chola Dynasty for the first time. The film has an amazing cast that includes Vikram, Karthu, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Jayam Ravi.

This is a special project for both the actress and the director because in 1997, Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar marked the actress’s debut in the Tamil film industry. Later in 2007 she did Guru with Abhishek Bachchan before working together again in 2010.
