Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is famously known as the most beautiful woman in the world. That’s not all, however. The actress has delivered powerhouse performances throughout her career (remember Provoked? We still have goosebumps). However, her last film, Fanney Khan was neither a commercial success nor was it critically acclaimed.
Now, it appears that Rai Bachchan is set to reunite with maverick director Mani Ratnam yet again. She had worked with him on Iruvar in 1997 and then in 2007 with Guru and 2010 with Raavan.
During an event in Chennai, the actress opened up about her next film with Ratnam.
“You all already know. I’m working with garu, my guru, in Ponniyin Selvan. It’s my honour and privilege to work with him any and every time, throughout my lifetime as an actor. I’m really looking forward to it,” she said, according to Filmfare.
The entertainment portal also reports that the period drama is set in the 10th century and is based on the life of Chola Emperor Arulmozhi Varman. Rai Bachchan will essay the role of the emperor’s manipulative wife. The film is an official adaptation of the Tamil novel by Kalki called Ponniyin Selvan.
