Priyadarshan — the man who has directed 26 Bollywood films, will be celebrating his 61st birthday tomorrow. It’s amazing the rate at which he makes films, and how many of them actually end up being successful. Out of all his films, probably the one that has achieved the maximum cult status is Hera Pheri. Even today, it’s scenes are well remembered and dialogues like ‘Kabira speaking’ still elicits a lot of laughter in us.

Paresh Rawal

Even though, Paresh Rawal was an established actor, his fan  following quadrupled after Hera Pheri. He also acted in other Priyadarshan comedies (and delivered ace performances) like Hungama, Hulchul, Garam Masala and Malamaal Weekly.

Rajpal Yadav

Even though, we don’t see him as often as we’d like these days, Rajpal Yadav once made our bellies hurt a lot with his antics in Priyadarshan films. His roles in Hungama, Garam Masala, Malamaal Weekly and Bhaagam Bhaag were performed with some impeccable skill, and director Priyadarshan has to be given credit for that.

Shakti Kapoor

Shakti Kapoor’s hilarity was on full display in Priyadarshan’s films like Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Malamaal Weekly, Hulchul and Hungama. We really hope the two combine again and deliver something mad.

Manoj Joshi

Manoj Joshi has appeared in Priyadarshan films like Hulchul, Hungama, Malamaal Weekly, Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Billoo Barber. This year he won the Padma Shri, and a lot of credit for that should be given to Priyadarshan.
