Due to the pandemic, the trend of movies going straight to streaming platforms has become more prevalent in last couple of years. Filmmakers don’t mind skipping the big screen and taking the OTT route. The latest film to pick a digital release over a theatrical one is Abhishek Bachchan’s Dasvi.
Dasvi, directed by Tushar Jalota, will have Abhishek Bachchan will play the role of a politician Ganga Ram Chaudhary, while Nimrat Kaur will portray Bimla Devi, and Yami Gautam will be seen playing a police officer. The film will release on April 7th, and will stream on Jio Cinema as well as Netflix.
Bachchan recently took to social media to share a small sneak peek of the film. He wrote, “From one student to another, Dasvi ke exams ke liye dher saari best wishes! #Dasvi streaming from 7th April on JioCinema & NetflixIndia.”
The makers of Dasvi wrapped the film’s shoot last year in April. The film is touted to be a comedy with a social message.
Interestingly, this is Abhishek Bachchan’s fourth film to have an OTT release, following Ludo, The Big Bull, and Bob Biswas. He was also part of the web series Breathe: Into The Shadows.
