Aamir Khan hasn’t been having the best time on the work front lately. Barely out of Laal Singh Chaddha‘s dud, Bollywood’s Mr. perfectionist now has another controversy to tackle. Khan’s latest commercial featuring Kiara Advani is now in the eye of the storm, as several viewers have expressed their disappointment over how the advertisement could be hurting religious Hindu sentiments, owing to its insensitive nature.
The commercial features Advani and Khan in a wedding scenario. They are returning home after the shaadi rituals. What irked some fans was the fact that instead of Advani, Khan arrives at her home as a Ghar Jamai so that they can take care of her ill father. Scores of people felt Khan had overstepped yet again, by questioning age-old traditions and rituals of a traditional Indian Hindu wedding.
Social media was inundated with hurt messages for Khan and Advani, with many rebuking content producers and ad makers for playing it safe with other faiths and their rituals.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also commented on the ad and said, “I have seen actor Aamir Khan’s advertisement for a private bank after receiving a complaint. I do not consider it appropriate. Such things about Indian traditions, customs, and deities keep coming, especially about Aamir Khan. I believe he is not allowed to hurt anyone’s sentiments.”
Earlier, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri too had criticized the advertisement. “I just fail to understand since when Banks have become responsible for changing social & religious traditions. I think @aubankindia should do activism by changing the corrupt banking system. Aisi bakwaas karte hain fir kehte hain Hindus are trolling. Idiots,” Agnihotri tweeted on Tuesday.
