Following the lives of Chameli and Aman, essayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rahul Bose respectively, this movie also draws heavily from rain-drenched themes and plays with the moods of monsoon. The story revolves around a sex worker and a man struggling with mental health issues after his wife’s demise. While a little heavy, it’s a good watch, too.

For the uninitiated, Lagaan’s entire premise is hinged on rains as it revolves around the lives of a few individuals fighting the tax regime in a village in British India, after years of drought rendered their agriculture moot. A winning classic, personally we can rewatch this one without any qualms.

With a gorgeous OST, Taal is an artsy little number from the ’90s, featuring by director, Shubhash Ghai. Taal Se Taal Mila is an iconic rainy song for many, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s splendid performance only makes it better. Go grab a big cup of chai, and hit play on this one.

Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, this Mani Ratnam classic revolves around a bandit who falls in love with his hostage. With plenty of waterfalls, rain and wind depicted through the 2 hours and 10 minutes of the movie, it’s a bonafide mood setter this rainy season.
