The team of Netflix’s The White Tiger starring Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra, and Rajkummar Rao is feeling ecstatic right now. Not only did the film impress the critics and the audience, but also it has bagged several victories for itself. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards on Tuesday (March 9) announced its nominees and Adarsh Gourav, who essayed the role of Balram in the film, bagged a nomination in the Leading Actor category. The White Tiger has also been nominated under the Adapted Screenplay category.

The character essayed by Gourav was powerful, resolute and impressionable. Balram was a chauffeur, who used to drive Rajkummar Rao’s character Ashok around town. The driver narrates his rags to riches story in The White Tiger, and Gourav made the character look so authentic that it was the only thing people were talking about.
Along with some remarkable acting, the actor’s dialogues were moving as well. He talked about the country, he gave analogies, he talked about a poor person’s status in a fast-moving India, and had so many anecdotes for the viewers that it blew their minds. With the nomination, we decided to celebrate this feat with a look back on some of the most epic The White Tiger dialogues. Check out the list below:
“In the good old days when India was a golden bird … then there were thousands of different castes … but nowadays there are only two types of caste … first those who have a big belly and second who are hungry for food … and they have only two options in their destiny … either eat someone or become their bite.”
“A poor person has only two ways to come up … crime or politics.”
“India is one country but it has two worlds in it … one with light and one with darkness.”
“The freedom from slavery has a lot of value even for one day, for one hour, for one minute, for one moment.”
“Rich men are born with opportunities they can waste.”
Gourav is the third Indian actor to have been nominated for a BAFTA nomination. Anupam Kher was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the BBC TV movie The Boy With The Topknot in 2018 while Life of Pi lead star Suraj Sharma was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award back in 2013. However, Kher and Sharma did not win the award.
