There were two major Bollywood debuts in 2018, that of Janhvi Kapoor (Dhadak) and Sara Ali Khan (Kedarnath and Simmba). While Kapoor has a large fanbase and is stunning to boot, one can argue that Khan’s was the debut of the year.
Pegged ‘relatable’ by the mainstream media, the 25-year-old actress was praised online for her enthusiasm, acting abilities and an innate sense of maturity that came through in all her interviews. In fact, so infectious was her energy that many netizens even compared her to Ranveer Singh.
2019 will also have its share of debuts. Below, we catalogue a few of them.
Ahan Shetty
Suniel Shetty’s son, Ahan Shetty is all set to make his debut in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bollywood remake of the Telugu film RX 100. The film will be directed by Milan Luthria and it is to be seen if Ahan fares better in the film industry than his sister Athiya Shetty.
Ananya Panday
Social media sensation, Ananya Panday will be seen in the much-awaited Student Of The Year 2. The to-be actress is already somewhat of a social media sensation and it is to be seen if she is as good at acting as she is at curating her Instagram feed.
Tara Sutaria
Sutaria has been a child star and had appearances in The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir and Oye Jassi. The actress will be seen opposite Ananya Panday and Tiger Shroff in SOTY 2.
Isabelle Kaif
Katrina Kaif is evidently one of the industry’s most beautiful actresses and her films generally tend to perform well, even if they don’t make the critics happy. Now, sister Isabelle Kaif will be seen in Time To Dance opposite Sooraj Pancholi.
Mohit Raina
Raina shot to fame when he played Lord Shiva in a television series and will be making his Bollywood debut in Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film is set to hit theatres on January 11.
