Recently, Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan took to Instagram to post a picture of a signboard of a square in the city of Wroclaw in Poland. What was so special about the signboard? It had Bachchan’s father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s name embossed on it.

“The City Council of the City of Wroclaw, Poland has decided to name a Square after my Father. There could not have been a more apt blessing on Dushhera than this. A moment of extreme pride for the family, for the Indian community in Wroclaw and India. Jai Hind (sic),” he captioned the picture.

In July of this year, students at the University of Wroclaw had recited Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poem, Madhushala, and paid homage to the poet.

There are multiple places in the world that are named after Indian celebrities.

For instance, a street in Canada’s Ontario is named ‘Allah-Rakha Rahman St’ after Oscar-winning music composer, AR Rahman. Canada also has a street named after iconic Bollywood actor, Raj Kapoor in the city of Brampton.

And, then, of course, there is King Khan. One of the world’s top stars, Shah Rukh Khan has a Lunar Crater named after him, courtesy of the International Lunar Geographical Society based in New York.

In North Sikkim, Bollywood’s Shehanshah, Amitabh Bachchan has a waterfall named after him.
