Man’s World magazine and Tulleeho, India’s leading bar training and education website, have announced the list of India’s 50 best bars based on a nationwide poll of more than 200 bar connoisseurs and industry experts.  These stalwarts were asked to vote on the basis of the first 136 bars shortlist that was spread over 12 cities across the country. Besides the Best Bar, each of the jury member was asked to vote in the following  eight categories:  Best Hotel Bar, Best Independent Bar, Best Microbrewery/ Taproom, Best Cocktail Menu, Best Bar Design, Best Bar Team and Best Bartender.

The 50 best bar announcement comes ahead of the 30 Best Bars India 2019 awards show that will be held at Delhi’s Pullman Aerocity Hotel on the evening of the  23rd of October, 2019. The show which is being jointly organized by MW and Tulleeho  will honour the winners in each of the awards category, and see the unveiling of the first annual ranking of India’s 30 Best Bars.

Additionally, two nominated awards in the category of Best Vintage Bar  and an Industry Legend Award will be presented during the main ceremony. While the former will honour a bar that is more than 30 years old and still going strong, the latter will be given to a personality of high standing in the bar industry who has the served the community with distinction over a long period of time.

An interesting mix of cities feature in the 50 best bars list. Expectedly, Delhi NCR and Mumbai lead the way with the maximum number of bars, 17 and 11 each. Bengaluru follows with 9, Kolkata with 6 and Chennai with 2. Only one bar each from Goa, Pune and Hyderabad make this list, but interestingly Jaipur and Darjeeling feature on the list, with one bar each as well.

The awards show will honour the winners of two People Choice Awards for the Best Bar and Best Microbrewery/Taproom. This is  based on an open online polling of bar users from across the country.  Voting for these two categories will end on October 18, 2019. Releasing the list of India’s 50 best bars Mr. Radhakrishnan Nair, Publisher & Editor of MW says, “We are happy to announce the list of 50 best bars after a two month long polling process. The list is packed with great bars, and what is even more exciting is their geographic spread. As many as 10 cities from across the country are represented. The only regret is that many exceptional bars did not make the cut. I am sure many of them will move up in the coming years and continue to thrill us with their innovations.”

Mr. Vikram Achanta, Co-founder and CEO, Tulleeho says, “This shortlist has been a journey of amazing personal discovery for me. Hidden gems from unexpected destinations such as Darjeeling and Goa have wowed us by walking toe to toe with leading contenders from Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, going to show that India has evolved its cocktail culture multi-fold. I will endeavor, in the coming year, to visit and learn from as many of them as possible and wish all the 50 shortlisted all the luck!”
