A WEEK IN FITNESS
I get bored very easily so I like to keep my workouts different. I mix it up with kickboxing, weight training and gymnastics. For example, I do weights three times a week, and give two days to kickboxing and maybe once or twice, gymnastics or Zumba.
THE MUST-HAVE GYM EQUIPMENT FOR A HOME GYM
Adjustable weights — where you can attach it to a dumbbell and change the weight according to your needs — are a great addition. Resistance bands are a must-have for sure. A bench is also necessary because then you can do a range of exercises on it.
TO GAIN MUSCLES, HE…
The best way to gain muscles is to do heavy weights. Whenever I am getting into such training, I make sure to mix it up with another activity like, dancing or gymnastics. That’s because when you start gaining muscles fast, your body starts tightening up and you become prone to injuries, if you don’t stretch properly.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN WORKING OUT
For my body, I think it is very important to stay hydrated. I would get injured much more easily than anyone else because I am so dehydrated from all the coffee consumption. Also, stretching before and after your workout is important. Introduce sports therapy into your routine as well.
A MUSCLE GROUP HE LOVES & HATES TO WORK ON
I love to work on my chest and I hate working on my abs because to get those tight blocks you have to do a lot of exercises in repetition, which I find very boring. I hate cardio as well which I have swapped with martial arts.
DIET FOOD THAT TASTE EQUALLY GOOD
People find healthy food boring because then, on cheat days, you end up eating everything that you’re restricted from. The trick is to maintain a lifestyle where you’re eating healthy meals throughout. So, I don’t follow any diets or have cheat meals. I simply add a little masala to my regular/healthy food.
HIS FITNESS INSPIRATION
Obviously, Salman Khan. He has been an inspiration for the last two generations.
TOP THREE GYM TRACKS
I have been laughed at a lot for this, but I listen to hardcore Bollywood songs. Mostly romantic ones. I’ll have Pankaj Udhas playing and then suddenly, some other song like, Main Toh Hoon Pagal from Baadshah, or Meri Marzi from Govinda’s film, The Gambler. My favourite is Mumbhai from Bombay Boys.
A FICTIONAL CHARACTER HE’D LIKE TO WORK OUT WITH
I think it’ll be Thor.
TOP THREE CHEAT MEAL PREFERENCES
The top three cheat meals would be yellow dal khichdi, chicken schezwan gravy and kulcha from Sheetal Bukhara. Tandoori crab, crab masala, bombil fry with neer dosa from Gajalee, and chilli chicken dry with chicken fried rice, again from Sheetal.
