In what is heartening news, popular video-sharing app Tik Tok has donated four lakh protective hazmat suits which are worth around Rs 100 crore for medical professionals battling the novel coronavirus on the frontlines in India.

 

While the first batch of hazmat suits numbering 20,675 arrived in the country this morning, 1,80,375 suits will arrive in India by Saturday. In the next few weeks, the remaining 2,00,000 suits will be delivered according to a statement delivered to the government by the social media giant.

 

It is common knowledge that India is facing a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) which covers specialised coveralls, gloves, goggles, masks and so on. While some doctors and other medical professionals have threatened to quit, yet others have said they’ll go on strike.

 

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, the country has been under lockdown since March 24 – the stealthy virus has claimed 38 lives in the country and has affected over 1600 individuals.
